Lew Carpenter, the American who bought the Lenin statue in Poprad, Slovakia, wanted to start a restaurant with the statue out front, but he was killed in a car accident in 1995 before he could realize his dream.  However, in a way it did come to fruition:  Lenin now stands in a plaza in front of two cafes.
