An Afternoon in Edmonds, Washington

Driveway4 viewsRed Sonja found her place in the sun in the driveway, which conveniently leads directly to the back yard.
Rainbow4 viewsA proclamation of amity and welcome, hanging from one of a trio of handsom white birches.
Carport8 viewsSarah and Mike manage to get along just fine without a garage.
Gracious Living4 viewsThe back of Sarah and Mike's house provides a sunny upper deck with stairs down to the back yard, as well as a comfortable shaded patio.
Balcony8 viewsThe north wing of Sarah and Mike's house. I really like the balcony, which provides a second-floor exit as well as a sun deck, and overhangs the first floor so as to provide cover for a person exiting on the first floor.
Party on the Patio8 viewsLeft to right: Nick, Sandie, and our hosts Sarah and Mike.
Sandie clowns for the camera8 viewsHere I must lament that the lens hood for my workhorse 24-70mm Canon zoom lens protrudes annoyingly into the picture when the lens is set at 24mm. The usual solutions are to crop the picture or to clone-stamp the corners, but sometimes neither alternative is feasible.
Miscreants7 viewsNick, Sandie, Sarah and Mike indulge in a bit of misbehavior to persecute the poor long-suffering photographer. (Whine, snivel.)
The Recalcitrant7 viewsMike remains incorrigible.
View from Down Under5 viewsNick appeared to enjoy himself a lot - since he and Mike are in similar lines of business, they found plenty to talk about. As did we all.
Hemispherical Tree6 viewsAlthough it partially blocks the view of the lake, this stately tree is an essential accoutrement of the back yard as well as a feast for the eye.
The Lake in the Back Yard5 viewsLooking out over the backyard dock to Edmount Island in the middle of Lake Ballinger.
