Aegean Free Zone Overview21 viewsThe Aegean Free Zone, near Izmir, is one of several free trade zones in Turkey. Free zones are sequestered areas given special regulatory treatment with the aid of promoting exports and attracting foreign investment. The Aegean Free Zone is home to Space Camp Turkey as well as a car museum and a wind turbine blade factory, all of which we visited on this date.

1940 Cadillac LaSalle 4-door Sedan9 viewsThe LaSalle was kind of a junior Cadillac, built and marketed by Cadillac but with a different brand name, and priced lower than a Cadillac. LaSalles were built from 1927 to 1940, so the car in the picture is one of the last LaSalles ever built.

1940 LaSalle side view3 viewsThe '40 LaSalle 4-door sedan closely resembled a car I used to own: a similar model 1940 Buick.

Camionette and Convertible5 viewsThe one on the right is a 1930 Model A convertible; the one on the left is a 1928 Model A, but it is a "Kamyonet". - which means "truck" in Turkish. In French it would mean "trucklet."

1933 Ford convertible5 viewsWhen I was in high school the 32-34 Ford was the hot rodder's Holy Grail. They were already out of reach even then.
