NGC 7635 - The Bubble Nebula10 viewsEmission nebula in the constellation Cassiopeia. The bubble is created by the stellar wind from a hot, young star.

NGC7635 - The Bubble Nebula - H-alpha enhanced version4 viewsAn emission nebula in the constellation Cassiopeia. The "bubble" is created by the stellar wind from a hot, massive star within a molecular cloud which contains the expansion of the bubble, preventing it from dissipating, and is also itself excited by the star. The nebula is 7 light years across and 7100 light-years away.

IC 1805 - The Heart Nebula in Cassiopeia12 viewsIC 1805, the Heart Nebula, lies 7,500 light-years away from Earth in the Perseus arm of the Milky Way. It is an emission nebula, drawing its radiance from Melotte 15, the cluster of bright stars in the center of this image.

IC1805 - The Heart Nebula, narrowband version7 viewsNarrowband rendition of the Heart Nebula, using the IDAS NBZ nebula enhancement filter to capture the H-alpha and O-III emissions; Fish Head Nebula seen as extension of Heart at lower left.
IC1848-20181014.jpg
IC 1848 - The Soul Nebula10 viewsAn emission nebula in Cassiopeia, eastern neighbor of the Heart Nebula, IC 1805. About 6,500 light-years away, it spans 100 light-years, and is too big at that distance to fit into my telescope's field of view, so only part of it is seen here.

IC1848 - The Soul Nebula, narrowband version6 viewsNarrowband rendition of the Soul Nebula, captured using an IDAS NBZ nebula enhancement filter, with H-alpha emissions in red and O-III emissions in blue.

IC405 - The Flaming Star Nebula in Auriga7 viewsNarrowband view of an emission and reflection nebula in the constellation Auriga north of the celestial equator, surrounding the bluish, irregular variable star AE Aurigae. About 1500 light-years away.

Tulip Nebula - Sh2-10110 viewsAn emission nebula about 6,000 light-years away in the constellation Cygnus. The shape vaguely resembles the outline of a tulip.
NGC7709-LRGB-20190830-f5.jpg
NGC 7009 - The Saturn Nebula10 viewsA planetary nebula in the constellation Aquarius, at a distance of about 5000 light-years, with a superficial resemblance to the planet Saturn. This image does not do it justice, because a much larger telescope is required to resolve the complex internal structure of the nebula.
IC5067-LRGBA-20190831-B1.jpg
IC 5067 - The Pelican Nebula19 viewsAn emission nebula (H-II region) in the constellation Cygnus, associated with the North American Nebula (NGC 7000), but visually separated from it by a dark dust cloud. Supposedly has the shape of a pelican, though not very much in this image.
NGC281_20180914_LHaRGB3~1.jpg
NGC281 - The Pac-Man Nebula4 viewsA bright emission nebula, part of an H II region in the constellation Cassiopeia; known as the Pac-Man Nebula because of its resemblance to the video game character that flits around ruthlessly and insatiably chomping up defenseless, pathetic little dots.
NGC281-20221021-RRGB4.jpg
NGC281 - PacMan Nebula, narrowband version7 viewsA narrowband version of the PacMan, obtained with a one-shot color CMOS camera and an IDAS NBZ nebula enhancement filter, with H-alpha mapped to red and O-III to blue.
